Disney CEO Bob Iger continues to emphasize that his company is strictly focused on entertainment rather than advancing “any kind of agenda.” His comments come amid criticism that some Disney movies have become “woke” and suffered at the box office as a result.

Iger, during a live-streamed meeting: “I’ve always believed that we have a responsibility to do good in the world, but we know our job is not to advance any kind of agenda. For as long as I’m in the job, I’m going to continue to be guided by a sense of decency and respect, and we’ll always trust our instincts.”

Iger has maintained this message for months, saying a year ago that the “primary mission needs to be to entertain and then through our entertainment to continue to have a positive impact on the world.”

Activists opposed to the “woke” agenda point to Disney movies like “The Marvels,” which featured an all-female cast and was Marvel’s worst-performing movie, becoming the first MCU title to fall short of $100 million domestically.
