Target has confirmed it will minimize its in-store DVD offerings, with customers asked to start purchasing them online. The retailer will only stock select DVDs during key periods like new releases or the holiday season.

The shift reflects changing consumer preferences, with many opting for streaming services over physical DVDs. It follows a similar move by Best Buy and ongoing uncertainties around Walmart’s DVD future.

Target spokesperson: “Moving forward, we’ll offer select DVDs in stores when they are newly released or during key times throughout the year when they are more popular, like for gift giving during the holidays.”

The first study in the world is underway to examine if providing diabetes patients with prescriptions for fresh food can improve their health. The approach, called “food is medicine,” could radically influence future health policies.

Local farmers are integral to the Mississippi study, supplying fresh produce directly to participants to boost the local food economy and address chronic health issues in underserved communities.

Success in the study might lead to the integration of food prescriptions into Medicaid benefits in Mississippi.

“We serve many communities where, if you’re going to get food, the only place you can go is down to the convenience store where there are lots of chips, sodas, and fried foods. People truly lack access to consistent healthy fruits and vegetables,” a health researcher said.

David Lynch has unveiled a furniture installation titled “A Thinking Room” at the Milan Furniture Fair. The exhibit offers a unique cinematic experience blending film and furniture design.

The filmmaker’s installation features two rooms each centered around an armchair and surrounded by blue velvet curtains. This design reflects Lynch’s cinematic style, particularly nodding to his film ‘Blue Velvet.”

Antonio Monda, curator: “A few years earlier I presented Lynch the lifetime achievement award at the Rome Film Festival, and when I visited him in Los Angeles I found him polishing a desk. … You’re accustomed to seeing how Lynch works when he does a film like ‘Blue Velvet’ or a show like ‘Twin Peaks,’ but now his creativity, his talent, and his vision are channeled into furniture.”

The exhibition will be displayed from April 16 to 21.
