Martin Scorsese plans to direct a biopic on Frank Sinatra, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Sinatra and Jennifer Lawrence as Ava Gardner, Sinatra’s wife. This comes as he’s also working on a film about the life of Jesus Christ, which will reportedly star Andrew Garfield.

According to Variety, the filmmaker intends to deliver an unflinching look at Sinatra’s life, reflecting his public and private life. Challenges remain as Tina Sinatra, who controls her father’s estate, has yet to endorse the project officially. 

Martin Scorsese: “Certain things are very difficult for a family, and I totally understand. But if they expect me to be doing it, they can’t hold back certain things. The problem is that the man was so complex. Everybody is so complex—but Sinatra in particular.”
