Iran has launched an attack against Israel with drones, escalating tensions between the countries. Two U.S. officials reported the strike, stressing the potential for regional conflict.

In response, Israel has heightened its security measures by closing airspaces and limiting public gatherings.

The attack comes after an alleged Israeli strike killed an Iranian general in Syria last week. Yesterday, Iran warned the U.S. that American forces would be attacked if they get involved in the conflict.

National Security Council spokesperson: “Iran has begun an airborne attack against Israel. The U.S. will stand with the people of Israel and support their defense against these threats from Iran.”

Israel Defense Forces spokesperson: “We are monitoring the threat in the airspace. It is a threat that takes several hours to reach the territory of the State of Israel.”
