Chinese gangs have created thousands of illegal marijuana farms across the U.S., challenging Mexican cartels for dominance in the cannabis market.

Authorities in states like Oklahoma, Oregon, California, New Mexico, and Maine have reported a surge in illicit weed farms linked to these Chinese gangs, with significant seizures made, including one operation worth over $4 billion in Maine.

The operations have been sophisticated, involving large-scale cultivation in residential areas and employing Chinese immigrant workers under harsh conditions. Some of the profits are believed to be funneled back to China, raising concerns about their potential connections to the Chinese Communist Party.

The expansion of these illegal farms has led to tensions within local communities and the legal cannabis industry, as these operations often use harmful chemicals and bypass state regulations, undercutting law-abiding growers and distributors.
