A survey of 2,000 employed Americans reveals over 70% believe the current workplace setup is outdated. More than half (57%) say the Monday to Friday, 9-5 schedule no longer meets their needs, with 67% finding traditional pay periods old fashioned.

The majority would prefer being paid weekly (64%) or daily (19%) to better align with their financial situations. Currently, 51% are paid biweekly, while only 7% receive their wages daily or immediately upon work completion.

Financial strain is apparent, with 56% often stretching income between pay periods and 35% unprepared for an unexpected $400 expense. Missed payments on essential bills and groceries were reported due to insufficient funds.

The concept of “earned wage access,” which is when employees receive wages before payday, is seen as an attractive solution by 74%.
