A startup plans to revolutionize the renewable energy sector by building the world’s largest plane, designed to carry exceptionally long wind turbine blades. 

Designed to be 356 feet in length and 79 feet in height, the WindRunner would surpass the current largest military aircraft in size. By allowing these blades to be transported to onshore sites, the initiative could potentially double the wind energy output of onshore installations. 

The startup behind this innovative aircraft, Radia, has secured $104 million in funding and achieved a valuation of $1 billion, drawing support from major investors and industry veterans. Radia’s first customer is a large independent power producer that has bought a 1-gigawatt project in Nevada.
