A 30-year-old left his life in Austin for a remote, abandoned mining town in California, motivated by a desire for a significant life change.

Purchased by Brent Underwood for $1.4 million, the town posed severe challenges, including no running water, extreme weather, and isolation, requiring immense perseverance and adaptability.

Since the move, the new owner has encountered storms, fires, floods, an earthquake, and a blizzard, demanding the development of both practical skills and mental resilience.

The long-term goal is to preserve the town's history through restoration projects, including a hotel for visitors, while exploring and documenting the extensive mining shafts beneath the town.
