Wisk, backed by Boeing, aims for its autonomous air taxis to be operational by decade’s end, offering rides at UberX prices.

Its Generation 6 eVTOL promises electric four-passenger travel with a 90-mile range, 15-minute charge time, and speeds up to 120 knots. It will operate between 2,500 and 4000 feet.

Regulatory approval is pending, with the FAA and other bodies reviewing pilotless commercial aircraft operation. Ground-based staff will monitor flights.

Wisk is partnering with Sugar Land, Texas, to assess vertiport locations, addressing urban transport challenges and aiming for multimodal connectivity.

Catherine MacGowan, APAC VP, Wisk: “There’s a very comprehensive process for us to go through to be approved, to be certified, and approved to conduct autonomous operations, so we won't be carrying passengers and we won't be undertaking operations until the [US Federal Aviation Authority] FAA and other regulators as appropriate have been fully set aside.”

Vice Media has announced it will cease publishing on its website and cut hundreds of jobs due to financial challenges.

The decision follows an unsuccessful sale attempt by Fortress Investment Group, with Vice planning to explore partnerships with media firms for content distribution.

Refinery29, acquired by Vice, will continue to operate separately, with ongoing discussions about its sale.

Bruce Dixon, Chief Executive: “It is no longer cost-effective for us to distribute our digital content the way we have done previously. As part of this shift, we will no longer publish content on vice.com.”

Red Lobster’s Ultimate Endless Shrimp deal, which was intended to boost restaurant traffic, led to significant financial losses in 2023.

The company initially charged $20 for the all-you-can-eat shrimp, increasing the price to $25, but still reported an operating loss of $12.5 million by the fourth quarter.

Thai Union Group, a minority investor, decided to exit, citing a total loss of $22 million.

In response, Red Lobster has introduced the Endless Lobster Experience during Lobsterfest, setting a 12-lobster cap for 150 fans.

CFO of Thai Union Group: “We knew the price was cheap, but the idea was to bring more traffic in the restaurants. So we wanted to boost our traffic, and it didn't work.”

CEO of Thai Union Group: “We’re not expecting to get anything much from the sale. Other people stop eating beef — I’m going to stop eating lobster.”

A 13-year-old Belgian boy has become the first in the world to have been cured of a rare, deadly brain cancer. Initially diagnosed at six, Lucas was expected to succumb to the disease after a year.

Lucas and his family traveled from Belgium to France so that he could become one of the first patients to join a groundbreaking trial of a new drug called Everolimus. Miraculously, the boy’s tumor completely vanished after the treatment, and the case has sparked hope for future treatments. Lucas’ cancer, brainstem glioma, is diagnosed in around 300 children in the U.S. every year.
