Names popular among millennials are now seen as dated by the younger generation, one viral video on TikTok has pointed out. For instance, trendy names have transitioned from Ashley and Amanda to Olivia and Emma, a significant shift in preferences from the 1980s and 90s.

In a TikTok video, 37-year-old Amber Cimiotti said: “The other day, my daughter told me the names Ashley or Amanda are like old people names. She's like, ‘Yeah, my teacher’s names are like, Ms. Erica, Ms. Samantha. There are Amandas and Ashleys.’”

She continued: “Now that I drop her off at school, there are no Ashleys, there are no Amandas. It’s Harpers and Madisons and Londons and Scarletts. So she’s right.”

One user commented: “My daughter told me a kid in her class has a dad name… kid’s name is Josh.”

Another user: “My son’s principal is Kyle, his teacher is Chad, a different teacher is Tiffany, and the secretary is Samantha. Where's Nancy and Frank?”
